The Smalls festival to host iPhone filmmaking talk
The Smalls Festival hits London again from 2 September to 6 September 2013 when it throws the spotlight on a selection of the world’s best work in animation, comedy, documentary, drama, foreign language film, and music video.
Now in its eighth year, the festival, which prides itself on a ‘Small Films for Small Screens’ ethos, was one of the first such events to showcase short films on video iPods.
In the intervening years it has run its own prestigious awards ceremonies, and a Pitch competition that gives indie filmmakers the chance to win a budget of £25,000, for production support, and advice from top industry professionals.
Mobile filmmaking is, of course, part of the Smalls Festival programme. Last year iPhone filmmaker Conrad Mess gave a masterclass in editing on a smartphone.
This year I will be chairing a special panel of experts and smartphone filmmakers on Tuesday 3 September called CAMERA IN MY POCKET: MOBILE FILMMAKING ON YOUR IPHONE.
We’ll be looking at how the iPhone and other smartphones have revolutionised mobile filmmaking and explaining to attendees how to get the best out of your device and maximise the use of the camera in your pocket.
Festival events will be held at The Hospital Club, 24 Endell Street London WC2H 9HQ. See website for full details and if you are in London and can make it, hopefully see you at the event.
