The Mobile Film Festival France gives aspiring French film-makers one mobile camera and one minute to tell one story

French Mobile Film Festival offering €15,000 grant as top prize for best one-minute film shot on a mobile

One mobile, one minute, one film – that is the challenge to filmmakers all over the world who wish to participate in France’s Mobile Film Festival.

Now in its eighth year, the competition is free to enter and films are allowed to be submitted in any language as long as they include French subtitles.

The prize for best film is a €15,000 grant to make a short film with a professional film production company.

Submissions close on 7 January 2013 and the prize ceremony will take place on 12 February in Paris.

Spokesperson Alexis Blumbergs said: “We are very proud this year to have an exceptional jury headed by writer-director Gad Elmaleh who is currently working in the USA.”

Other categories include: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Scenario, Best Mise en scène with winners each awarded a €500 prize.

Once the jury has whittled entries down to 50 films, there will be an opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite film with an extra prize of €2,000 for this category.

The list will be published on the Mobile Film Festival website and also via its Facebook page, and Dailymotion page.

Not only is the Mobile Film Festival one of the best online film festivals we have come across, but it also claims to be the first ‘cross media festival with multiple screening solutions’ for website, mobile apps (iPhone and Android) and cinema.

And it’s French, which we love, but there are also plans to launch a London version next year so we’ll be keeping an eye on that development.

Check out the Mobile Film Festival website for full details.
