Next year’s New Media Film Festival opens for submissions
The New Media Film Festival has been steadily growing in stature since its inception in 2009 and has announced its programme for 2013 with a call for entries from anyone working in new technologies and formats for media and cinema.
Submissions are being accepted until 1 May 2013 ‘for exciting recently finished content’ in the following categories: 3D, Web Series, Music Videos, Shorts (all formats), Digital Comics, Machinima, Trailers, SRC-Socially Responsible Content, Documentaries, Animation, Moviola Editing Award, Features, LGBT, Mobile/Tablet, New Media Scripts, Shot on RED, Apps & Sniplers: 30 Second Pitch.
Next year’s event will be held at the The Landmark Theatre in Los Angeles on 11 and 12 June.
In addition to showcasing submissions in multiple categories throughout the festival, experts in new media technology and filmmaking will share with attendees ‘the who, what, why and how of social media, alternative distribution … and the trials and tribulations of releasing independent films’.
As well as $45,000 in awards, there will also be plenty of networking opportunities, of course, with the chance to meet fellow new media filmmakers, artists, producers, above and below the line crews, thought makers, implementers and distributors.
Described as ‘Sundance for the Facebook crowd’, The New Media Film Festival’s brief is to ‘honour stories worth telling’, and showcase the best in new media, which gets our vote.
