The ’festival in your pocket’ that shows movies off iOS devices and projects them onto a big screen launches in York and London

Is it a festival? Is it a film night? Is it unique?

Yes, yes — and yes are the answers to the above questions as today we are proud to announce the launch of the iPhone Popup Film Festival.

The iPhone Popup Film Festival is an experimental kind of film night, a ‘festival in your pocket’ as it brings together iOS filmmakers to show their films on a ‘big screen’ using the great, new PoP Video pico projector.

The iPhone Popup Film Festival offers a chance for people making films on their iPhone or iPod Touch to get together, show their work, be inspired and see first hand what others are doing. It will also be an opportunity to collaborate and network.

It’s your night and your festival so it will be up to you, the filmmaker, to make the most of it.

As we establish the iPhone Popup Film Festival we will develop an app and stream the festival films online to make it a truly global event. We will also feature live bands and DJs in between showing your films.

We kick off in York, England, on 3 September and have a London launch date on 11 September at venue to be confirmed. We will also be taking the iPhone Popup Film Festival to lots of other cities around the world and will be working with existing international film and digital festivals to become a part of their programme.

If you want to find out more information on the iPhone Popup Film Festival? We have that covered here.

To stay in the loop and be notified of when the iPhone Popup Film Festival is coming to a city near you, join our iPhone Film Makers’ Meetup Group.

You can follow us on Twitter too: @iphonepopup

We look forward to seeing you at one of our nights, strictly no red carpet, this is ‘the festival in your pocket’, created by iPhone filmmakers who like to do things differently.

• All events will be free admission and there will be no charge to show your film, but you must signup to the event via our meetup page to guarantee a slot on the night.
