The iPhone Film Festival (IFF) caps an extraordinary year with the announcement that it will be one of the presenters at the Macworld | iWorld expo in January.

The IFF was the first on the scene to promote iPhone films and held two award ceremonies in 2011, receiving over 500 submissions.

Now it is furthering the cause of this nascent industry by taking some of the best film-makers to San Francisco for the prestigious expo, which not only worships all things Mac, but now also recognizes the very best work being produced on iOS devices.

The IFF will be part of the Macworld | iWorld Film Event, held on 27 January in the Moscone Center West.

Included in the lineup of smart moviemakers presenting their work will be: Luis (Conrad Mess) Mieses Crespo, Spain (Winner 1st Place, IFF2); Craig Anthony Perkins, USA (Winner 2nd Place, IFF1), Wonsuk Chin, South Korea (Winner 3rd Place, IFF1); and Canadian singer-songwriter Lindi Ortega, (Winner Best Music Video, IFF2).

A Q&A will follow screenings with the film-makers talking about the creative process behind iPhone film-making, along with previewing exclusive footage.

IFF founder Ruben Kazantsev is also busy organizing IFF3 and is planning to host an awards ceremony in Beverly Hills next April. Submissions are already open and details can be found on the IFF website.

Kazantsev is also developing an IFF magazine app, which he hopes to launch at the Macworld | iWorld expo.

“For the iPhone Film Festival to be involved with Macworld is a great honour,” says Kazantsev, on the phone from his Beverly Hills home.

“I mean, it’s huge … the South Park studios are going to be there too, and if you think about it in the past when Steve Jobs used to attend and Pixar of course … well it just confirms what we are doing and it’s great for the film-makers, everyone gets exposure.”

Macworld|iWorld takes place January 26 — 28, 2012 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco
