Review of best videos shot so far on the new iPhone 5S
Slow-motion feature on Apple’s flagship smartphone proves a hit with filmmakers, along with improved camera capabilities
Apple’s new iPhone 5S is only a few weeks old, but it didn’t take long for smart moviemakers to put its ‘awesome’ new camera to the test. Here, we preview a bunch of the best videos filmed so far on Apple’s flagship device, as seen on Vimeo and YouTube. First up is Nashville filmmaker Dave Altizer who has actually set the standard with his short, Matt Morris – iPhone 5s adventure:
“I can now sincerely say that the iPhone 5s can be a powerful production tool,” says Altizer, in his production notes on Vimeo. One welcome addition to the iPhone 5s, is a slow-motion feature that allows the filmmaker to shoot video at 120 frames per second and then play the images back in slow motion.
This example, iPhone 5s Slow Motion Video – 120 fps, by Atlanta-based Rishi Kaneria has been receiving a lot of attention as a brilliant example of how to capture slo-mo on the new iPhone 5S.
And if you are sick of all the talk about the iPhone 5S, or seething with envy because it is out of your budget range then Slow motion destruction of iPhones filmed on the iPhone 5S at 120fps by jeremiahjw on YouTube should make you smile!
Another video that caught our eye is Flip Champagne – iPhone 5S short movie, from French filmmaker Léo Ginailhac, who shot straight, without any post-production.
