iPhone 5 set to ship this September
A report on Reuters today quotes sources in Hong Kong saying that Apple suppliers will start production of the iPhone 5 in July with the new device ready for shipping in this September.
No one from Apple was available for comment, but unidentified sources close to the manufactures said the new smartphone will have a faster processor, but will be similar in design to the iPhone 4.
Suppliers to the current generation included camera module maker Largan Precision Co Ltd, touchscreen panel maker Wintek Corp and case maker Foxconn Technology Co Ltd, the Reuters’ sources said.
The companies would begin production either in July or August before shipping components to Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, flagship of Foxconn Technology Group, for assembly, they said.
