Indie singer Ortega films her own video on iPhone 4

Canadian singer Lindi Ortega is another great example of how musicians are using the iPhone 4 to produce fantastic music videos at a relatively low-cost – and more importantly retaining full artistic control.

For her video of the track Angels, off her soon-to-be-released album Little Red Boots, Ortega used an app from Nexvio to simulate 8mm footage.

During a weekend off from touring with Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers, Ortega wandered around her native Toronto, bought a pair of angels wings, found a graveyard for some atmospheric shots and sang into here iPhone back in her bedroom.

The result is like a Facebook profile shot, only Ortega brings hers to life, with stunning affect.

After editing it herself she posted the video for Angels online – where it became an immediate hit.

‘I’m using the modern technology but it’s an old-school effect,’ she said. And seen has though Angels as proved more popular than the video for another one of her songs, Little Lie, produced with a professional camera crew, Ortega could well have hit on her own successful formula to reach a wider audience.

It’s a great song too and we love her voice.
