Feature-length horror film shot on iPhone4 to be included in iPhone Film Festival

iPhone film Festival
With a little over a month to go before the deadline for submissions to the iPhone Film Festival 2 (IFF2), there is news of perhaps its most ambitious entry to date.

Dead Island by director Josh Davidson is a full-length (60+ mins) horror film shot entirely on iPhone – surely a first for the iPhone?

Written by Davidson and CS Johnson and produced by BR McDonald Veteran Artist Program Be More Films, the story is about two 17-year-old twins, Kelsey (Emily Fondersmith) and Devon (Charlie Dreizen), whose parents up sticks and take their family to live on an island thousands of miles from their childhood home, right before their senior year in high school.

The twins aren’t too happy about this move and it upsets the family dynamic. The tension is not helped by the twins’ newfound hobby of recording everything about their lives with their cameraphones that are otherwise useless on the island where cell reception is non-existent.

Add to the mix an oddball local girl who befriends the twins and an intruder in their new home and you have a recipe for a spine-tingler.

Will have to get the popcorn in for this one. The film has not been submitted to the IFF2 yet, but here is a trailer …

So far, over 100 hundred entries have been received to this year’s premier online festival for iPhone moviemakers and the deadline for submissions is 1 October 2011. Winners will be announced on 19 October.

To see the latest entries and found out how to submit your film go to the Iphone Film Festival website.

Nice. I’m also shooting a feature-length film on an iPhone. I’m also doing all editing so no outside hardware or software will touch this movie unless I have to burn it to DVD to send to festivals. Hopefully they’ll accept my Dropbox download!

Hi Michael, wow – am impressed with what I have seen so far. Good luck with it and if you fancy giving me a sneak preview I shall review it. Also, try the iPhone Film Festival, i think you can even enter the trailer. Best
