Harrods may no longer be the ‘top people’s store’ but that has not deterred Apple from moving in to the swanky Knightsbridge location and opening up an outlet.

If internet rumours are also to be believed the store-within-a-storewillopen on the same day as the launch of the iPad 3 in the UK.

As website 9to5Mac points out, Apple often brings its new products to its retail outlets a couple of weeks after unveiling them; an announcement on the iPad 3 is expected early March, could be the 7th, so Friday 16 March for the launch of its new iPad and the opening of itsHarrodsstore-in-store is likely to maximise publicity for both events.

Although it lost its royal warrants a few years ago and is now owned by an Arab investment company, Harrods remains one of London’s top department stores and was established 163 years ago.

It’s world famous for its enormous range of luxury goods spread over seven levels covering more than a million square feet (90,000 square meters) of floor space. Apple currently operates five other stores in the capital, but the Harrods outlet will be the city’sfirststore-within-a-storelocation.
