Apple pie: iPhone tracking concerns and the new white version

The Apple press machine went into overdrive yesterday to try and stem the build up of bad publicity on the iPhone 4 collecting users’ location data and storing it for a year.

While the company issued a official press release in a Q&A format, which was on yesterday’s SmartMovieMaker Daily, Steve Jobs also became personally involved by sending an email from his iPhone to a reader on the MacRumours website saying ‘we don’t track anyone’.

The Guardian’s Charles Arthur has more on this exchange here, and in case you missed it you can read Apple’s official press release in full here.

Apple's new white iPhone 4, conveniently launched yesterday

Sounds like Apple were desperate to get some good news out yesterday, and after months of waiting – the white version of the iPhone 4 is suddenly now available.

It’s only a colour change and it will be interesting to see if there is a demand for the white version.

If anyone gets one – or spots one let us know what you think, personally I prefer black.
